Sony says you can now use a web-based API to program its adorable Aibo robot dog to do new tricks — and you might even be able to make it your smart home’s best friend. Who needs Alexa or Google home if a nice robot dog might be able to help you out around the house instead.
Sony is inviting developers to make “services and applications” that can work with Aibo.
Aibo develop program
Sony is inviting developers to make “services and applications” that can work with Aibo. To create simpler tasks, you can use Scratch’s drag-and-drop block coding to teach Aibo what to. For instance aibo can move in various ways, from simply walking to shaking its head. The use of scratch programming software and this animated robot is a strong combination, especially for education.
Concept
In a concept video Sony shows what might be possible with the new APIs. In this video Aibo helped monitor a microwave, turn on a robot vacuum, remind a child that she had left the fridge open, and... act as surveillance camera for the child’s mom? We can imagine that aibo can be connected to smart devices at home. That it can respond on certain values of smart devices too. But if it will be your watching guide in house at this moment, we doubt it.
Free to use
The aibo Developer Program is a licensing program, which was released with aibo's web API . The program is necessary to develop services and applications that can be linked with aibo. To use the API, you will first need to agree to the aibo Developer Program user agreement. The program is available for free at this time.
