Machnet Medical Robotics is a new UTwente spinoff that focuses on developing a robot for MRI-guided biopsies. The application is primarily focused on taking biopsies of early-stage breast cancer.

A team of researchers and engineers from Gaumard Scientific have developed a robot that provides a more realistic situation for medical training. The robot, called HAL, looks like a boy and also behaves like a boy. He can follow a finger with his eyes, answer questions, cry for his mother and experience anaphylactic shock.

The technique was tested in Fujian Province on a pig and used state-of-the-art technology. Doctor Liu Rong was able to remotely control robot arms via a 5G connection in a hospital 50 kilometers away for removing the liver of a pig in less than ten minutes. Thanks to the 5G technology, the doctor could see a clear real-time picture of the operation and at the same time communicate with his assistants.
